What: Pursuant to section 12 (1) of the National Historic Parks General Regulations, the following activities are designated as restricted at Prince of Wales Fort National Historic Site. Pursuant to subsection (3) in respect to a designated activity, a licence, permit or other form of permission is required prior to engaging in any of these activities and all licence or permit holders must adhere to the terms and conditions identified in their licence or permit.

Special events: All special events must be in possession of a Special Event Activity Licence. A special event is defined as a temporary, planned activity that is conducted for recreation, entertainment, education, commemoration or promotional purposes.

Where: Parks Canada administered lands, assets and structures at Prince of Wales Fort National Historic Site, including Sloop Cove and Cape Merry Battery.

Why:

• To mitigate adverse impacts on the preservation, control and management of the site.
• To ensure the safety of visitors and staff.
• Protection of natural and cultural resources.

Penalty: Violators may be charged under the Canada National Parks Act.
