ArcGIS Field Map of Sable Island

Before you travel to Sable Island, download the ArcGIS app and the "Offline Sable Island Topo Map" to your smart phone. Use the app to open the map and navigate your way around Sable Island. When you arrive on Sable Island, your location will appear as a little blue dot on the map – no cell service, Wi-Fi or data required!

Step 1: Install the free app

1. Launch the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play Store (Android).
2. Download and install the "ArcGIS Field Maps" app.
3. Bypass login: Open the app and tap "Continue" without signing in at the bottom of the screen.

Step 2: Search for the map

1. Open search: Tap the magnifying glass icon at the top of the app screen.
2. Type keywords: Search exactly for "Sable Island Topo Map".
3. View results: The app will display the "Offline Sable Island Topo Map" card in your search results.

Step 3: Save the map to your device

1. Download the "Offline Sable Island Topo Map": Tap the "Download map" card while connected to Wi-Fi.
2. Verify save: Once finished, the map will move into your "On Device" menu tab.

Step 4: Navigate Offline on the Island

1. Open app: Launch "Field Maps" upon arrival.
2. Select map: Open the map card located under your "On Device" menu.
3. Track location: Find your live position marked by a blue GPS dot over the custom terrain.
4. No signal required: Navigate safely with your phone's internal GPS sensor without requiring cellular data.
