Operational Weather Cameras

Parks Canada operates two satellite weather cameras in Ivvavik National Park at Imnairvik (Sheep Creek Base Camp) and Margaret Lake to support safe flight operations.

Each morning, the cameras capture images of current weather, visibility, and landing strip conditions before aircraft depart from Inuvik. These images help pilots and Parks Canada staff assess conditions before flying into these remote locations.

Imnairvik (Sheep Creek Base Camp)

Imnairvik (Sheep Creek Base Camp) is Parks Canada's primary operational base in Ivvavik National Park. The camera overlooks the airstrip and surrounding tundra, providing current conditions to support daily flight operations and park activities.

Margaret Lake

Margaret Lake is a remote landing area and the starting point for many visitors and researchers travelling the Firth River. The camera provides current views of the surrounding landscape and landing strip, helping pilots and Parks Canada staff assess local weather, visibility, and landing conditions before flights into the area.

Images are captured daily at:

• 8:30 am (Inuvik time)
• 1:00 pm (Inuvik time)

If you require an image outside of the scheduled capture times, please contact infoinuvik-inuvikinfo@pc.gc.ca to request an on-demand photo. Requests will be accommodated when operationally feasible.
