Restricted activity - Non-motorized Watercraft

What:

Pursuant to Section 7(1) of the National Parks General Regulations, of the Canada National Parks Act, the following activity is restricted or prohibited by order of the Superintendent:

  1. Mandatory inspections and Aquatic Invasive Species Prevention Permit
    All non-motorized watercraft must complete a Parks Canada inspection and possess a valid Seasonal Aquatic Invasive Prevention Permit to enter Riding Mountain National Park waters. Trailered, non-motorized watercraft are restricted to Clear Lake and must also be registered in the Tagging Program. The tagging program will operate from 8:00 to 20:00.
  2. Two permit system for non-motorized watercraft
    Visitors must choose to use non-motorized watercraft on Clear Lake or outlying lakes such as Lake Audy, Moon Lake, Lake Katherine, Whirlpool Lake, Grayling Lake, and Deep Lake in Riding Mountain National Park. Movement between Clear Lake and outlying lakes and rivers of Riding Mountain National Park is not permitted. Permits will be specific to either Clear Lake or outlying lakes with colour coded stickers affixed to watercraft.

     

     

  3. Clean, Drain, Dry
    Pursuant to the Manitoba Aquatic Invasive Species Regulations, Clean, Drain, Dry requirements are in effect for all non-motorized watercraft uponleaving a waterbody.

    “Non-motorized watercraft” means: any boat, canoe, kayak, raft, stand-uppaddleboard, or other type or class of vessel without a marine motor.

All waterbodies within Riding Mountain National Park

Why:

To reduce potential introduction and spread of Aquatic Invasive Species.

Note:

Violators may be charged under the Canada National Parks Act. Maximum Penalty $25,000
