Banff Field Unit

WHAT: Pursuant to Section 36(1) of the National Parks General Regulations, of the Canada National Parks Act, the following area is closed to all traffic and travel by order of the Superintendent:

WHERE:
Upper Springs Block 1 - The area between Mountain Avenue and the Town of Banff Boundary bordering the Valley View Community and extending east to the Banff Springs Hotel and further uphill to the Rimrock Hotel. All trails are closed within this area.
Upper Springs Block 2 - The area south of Mountain Avenue beginning 500 meters downhill from the Rimrock Hotel and extending 1 kilometer along the road – as shown on the attached map.

WHY: For the safety of visitors and the public during mechanical forest thinning, debris burning and log hauling operations.

PENALTY: Violators may be charged under the Canada National Parks Act: maximum penalty $25 000.
