What:

Pursuant to Section 41(1) of the National Park Highway Traffic Regulations the operation of Over-Snow Vehicles* inside Riding Mountain National Park is permitted under the following conditions.

Where:

1. Over-snow vehicle use or travel is prohibited in ALL areas of the Park except on:

a) The ice surface of Clear Lake for the purpose of ice fishing only.

(i) Access to Clear Lake is only permitted from the following designated launch sites:

• Boat Cove
• Frith Beach
• Spruces
• East End (by Clear Lake Golf Course) (see map)

b) The Russell Trail on the northwest corner of RMNP

c) Certain sections of the park boundary authorized through agreements with Snoman Inc. Please call 1-204-848-7275 for details of these locations. 

2. Authorization via this notice shall constitute written permission of the superintendent to engage in over-snow vehicle travel in designated areas of RMNP.

3. Authorized use of over-snow vehicles in designated areas of RMNP is subject to equipment specifications, and licensing and registration requirements for the machine and rider(s) as required by provincial laws.

4. This authorization may be rescinded at any point if the safety, health or enjoyment of the public or the natural resources of the Park are compromised, or to comply with direction in the Park Management Plan.

* An over-snow vehicle means a vehicle that is designed to be driven by means other than muscular power, runs on tracks or skis, and operates on snow or ice. All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs) with tracks are not permitted.

Parks Canada does NOT monitor natural ice surfaces for safety or mark potential hazards.

Violators may be charged under the Canada National Parks Act. Maximum Penalty $25,000.
