What

Pursuant to subsection 36(1) of the National Parks General Regulations, the following area is closed to all traffic and travel by order of the Superintendent:

Where

Forested areas between the Cabin Lake Fire Road and the Jasper townsite, and the forested area south of Jasper Riding Stables extending to Cottonwood Creek, as delineated on the attached maps. This closure includes portions of Trails 8e, 8g, 8c, 15, 2a, 2b, 2j, and 2, and the full closure of Trail 2k.

Why

To ensure public safety during the mechanical fuel reduction activities. Crews and heavy equipment are operating in the area creating safety hazards including tree felling, moving machinery and smoke.

Penalty

Violators may be charged under the Canada National Parks Act: maximum penalty $25 000.
